National Geographic's Trails Illustrated topographical maps, based on USGS information, are designed to take you into the wilderness and back. They show all trails, campsites, and recreational features, plus relevant information on wildlife history, geology, and archaeology.

The regional maps are more useful Great map for an overview of all of both parks. It's acceptable for general hiking purposes. But the scale of the three separate regional maps is more useful as they provide much more detail.I find the bulk and weight of these waterproof maps to be excessive. There is a lot of paper covered by words that don't need to be on a map. I'd rather see just the pertinent information on less and lighter-weight paper.Good map but no mileage for trails. Only thing I would add is miles for each trail. I had to buy a second map for that information.Purchased Maps For Additional Parks. Printed on vinyl-substrate (no tearing, water-resistant) these topography maps show roads and trails with grade changes. More map information than the National Park Service entry-fee maps. I was happy with my Rainier and Yellowstone maps' experience. My third park which I purchased a set of these "National Geographic Maps-Trails Illustrated".

But as I continued to read, the author applied the principle to other things like quitting smoking, eating healthy, and basically accomplishing any goal you have set for yourself. Some of it was tough to read, as in taking responsibility and accountability for not putting my all into my efforts to succeed, but a kick in the butt that I needed to push myself to the next level. The author is entertaining too, so not a boring read.

Select the lab option, and therein lies the true cost of this courseware.I've emailed the publisher in hopes of obtaining an access code, however, I'm upset to say the least.Great resource A good intro to some of the fundamentals of digital security. Not much new for me personally, but a pleasant surprise as a text for class. A great starting point for anyone serious about learning some of the all round basics.

After the missionaries came the real anthropologists and then, more recently, the activists.Often this genre has suffered not only from exoticism but also contained a good deal of egoism. While continuing in this tradition, the author of The Last Whalers thankfully focuses on the Lamelerans and mostly crops himself out of the picture. While there is some rather mundane philosophizing about the need to preserve a diversity of cultures, most of the book deals with the personalities and mores of this fascinating sliver of humanity.Lamaleran culture revolves around the hunting of whales and so a lot of the work is devoted to blow by blow descriptions of harpooning and the ultimate slaying of these animals. Readers expecting typical anthropological data like rituals, myths and social hierarchies will be mostly disappointed.What one does get is a depiction of a tribe torn between adherence to ancestral ways and the possibilities of modernity. The extent to which one will enjoy this book will vary depending on one’s interest in primitive civilizations—particularly those which are hunter based—and the extent to which one is drawn in by the personal stories the author narrates.Personally, I thought the author has nobly contributed to a somewhat ignoble literary tradition. He has depicted a tribe still caught in a mostly prehistoric way of life without sentimentalizing their personalities or writing a hagiographic account of their way of life.Clearly, the Lamalerans have not had a major effect on world history. But the author succeeds in describing their unique culture to such an extent that a compelling case is made for the need to preserve humankind’s cultural diversity.If descriptions of far-off and completely different civilizations are to one’s liking than the Last Whalers is probably a good choice. If one is prepared for bloody hunting scenes and short shrift given to traditional cultural topics then the extraordinary actions of the author in learning the Lamaleran dialect and living among them for extensive periods will lead to a rather gripping narrative. In short, a unique contribution to ethnography that is written for the public and not just for anthropologists. Well worth reading.

Fun, Big Hit Meals that aren’t for the everyday A great, high-impact flavor cookbook that is charmingly illustrated and easy to use. Perfect for at home cooking (i.e. easy to find ingredients and recipes you don’t have to dedicate a day to). Creamed spinach and the ragu have been the big hits so far, and the section dedicated to Thanksgiving is a godsend. Only complaint is that it isn’t the most balanced cookbook, not the healthiest for the every day, but makes a fun special meal for occasions.A Gift I gave this book as a gift , sent to St John Island. ...I think it is very funny and like you are in the room with witty Chef Bourdain...I think I will get one for my self..since I love cookbooks and I think Anthony Bourdain is an amazing person.Five stars are for books that are indispensible to me. Four stars are very good books.LOVE LOVE LOVE!! My staple, my go-to! In true Anthony Bourdain fashion, this book is "delicious," approachable and ground-level (as in, not pretentiously written or with ingredients insanely beyond our daily reach). I like that it's full of recipes that are good ole' classics, yet explained 'right,' with cool photos (an engaging editorial layout). This is my new go-to cookbook, for both entertaining and just-at-home meals. If you're looking for some crazy exotic recipes, this is not the book, but if you're looking for a categorical resource for delicious eats you could imagine Anthony Bourdain himself eating during his regular routine in NYC (New England clam chowder, sausage & pepper hero, gaufrette potato with smoked salmon, shrimp bisque, clams with chorizo, etc.) this book is for you. Also, there are whole sections on Party 101, Thanksgiving recipes, and more!
